Minutes
- Alex discussed his findings from last week, and gave the group and update on where he is in terms of creating his part of the PowerPoint.
- He has completed about half of the PowerPoint but he has all the informatin needed for the rest of the PowerPoint on a word document, it's just a matter of transferring the information he already has.
- Also found a number of different cameras that could be used around the farm.
- Security camera suggestions; One camera that goes in the car park. This camera comes with a bracke and is £79.
- Two cameras that are for reception are not night vision but they have a wide range of image. Camera cost is £200 where a free software programme is included and free 2GB sapce. Free delivery with this package.
- Tom then discussed his findings from last week, and gave the group an update on where he is in terms of creating his part of the PowerPoint.
- We would be using Websites for our advertising; this would be because we are on such a low budget so we need to think carefully how we spend it. There are a number of software packages that are available.
- Mr Site - £60 for basic site, price increases for more advanced packages. This website produces a basic design for us and all we have to do is put the information into the site.Google Docs – free, easy to make website.
- This is free and very simple to use, but the resources you get are very limited. This on option we could take if we are running low on our budget, or use it on the low budget.
- Macromedia Dreamweaver – cost of software and basic skills needed to create the website itself.
- Advertising; National advertising would be very expensive and wouldn’t be useful for a small bed and breakfast like John & Sues. Advertising in country magazines would be a lot more appropriate. We would need to hire a photographer to take pictures so that we could have some images to advertise the bed & breakfast with.
- Leaflets & Brochures; Leaflets & Brochures can be created for free, but will have to pay for the software that is needed to create these and we will also need to pay for printing costs. Companies offer this service for a small fee which could be more cost effective; I would need to find this out.
Actions
- Alex; Research how much the space costs for cameras and find out how big the car park is. Contact Jamie to see if he has completed his actions from the last meeting.
